Map of all the smashes, jumps, and billboards.

This page is a list of breakable items in the Burnout World.

Discovery

For more information see the main Discovery article.

With a huge open world to explore Criterion has provided players with a lot of reasons to check out the entire map. There are 570 collectibles split into Super Jumps, Smashes and Billboards spread through the whole city, along with 35 Drive Thrus and 11 Car Parks. They're worth finding too; you'll get multiple achievements and cars for finding everything in the game, and learn a lot about the layout of Paradise City in the meantime.

Smashes

For more information see the main Smash Gates article.

In total there's a whopping 400 Smashes to find all over Paradise City, with anywhere from 50 to 90 in each area. You can check how many you have in each area with the pause menu. With there being so many, this is probably the hardest discoverable to find every one of. They are represented by multiple black and yellow chain link fences that say "Private Property". Once you've gone through a Smash, it will no longer have a full fence in front of it, to let you know you've earned it already.

Billboards

For more information see the main Billboards article.

There are 120 Billboards spread throughout the city, with between 20 and 30 in each of the 5 areas. You can check how many you have in each area with the pause menu. The billboards have the Burnout logo on a fiery background, and should be pretty obvious once you play. Once you've gone through a billboard it will always look like it's been smashed up, so use that to help you find new ones to break.

Other

Around all the tracks and locations of all the games, there are many minor objects, which can be broken. They don't have much significance to the actual gameplay of the games but they do add that extra bit of detail to the racing areas. Here is a list of all breakable objects:

  • Boxes
  • Crates
  • Benches
  • Bins
  • Dumpsters
  • Lampposts
  • Tables
  • Road Signs
  • Phone Booths
  • Market Stalls
  • Gates
  • Fences
  • Traffic Cones
  • Traffic Barriers
  • Wooden Scaffolding
  • Overhead Signs

Notes

  • Smashing any minor breakable objects adds up a very small amount of Speed boost.
  • In the original Burnout, the lamp posts are significantly stronger and can wreck a player if they come in contact with them.
