The Carson Tribal Special is the Burning Route version of the Hot Rod Coupe. This upgrade trades one boost point for one extra speed point. This makes the Tribal Special more ideal for events such as a Race since one of its problems was slow acceleration when boost was not active. The extra cruising speed will help keep the player from lagging too far behind until they can find a straight away to safely use its boost. The car's handling and stunt capabilities are exactly the same as the Hot Rod Coupe, which still makes it viable for Stunt Runs. Despite the statistics, what it does best is actually Road Rage: For a strength rating of 5, it has a surprisingly high chance of surviving because its strange handling in low speed usually make it simply spin around without wrecking when it gets hit in the side, thus making it nigh invulnerable to T-Bone Takedowns, and also that handling along with responsive brakes make it much easier to avoid crashing into a wall compared to most aggression cars. Also, its wide and focused wheels make it excellent in pushing other cars aside, which cause most Takedowns. Its high cruising speed also helps it a lot in hitting opponents and running to Auto Repair Shops. And if a car hits it in the back, there's a high chance that it won't wreck, but the hitter will, as the back of the car seems to be able to somehow bend the direction of the hitters. Thus, it feels like the developers tried to make the ultimate Stunt Car, yet ultimately failed and created the ultimate combat car instead.

With minor problems aside, the Tribal Special is a great upgrade over the original Coupe, and is an ideal choice for any Veteran Freeburner.

Description

The Tribal Special is the cruising man's Hot Rod. Slightly less boost power, but more cruising speed means if you shut it off the whole pack won't go strolling past.

How to Unlock

Beat the Hot Rod Coupe Burning Route.

Resemblance

The Tribal Special shares the same model as the Hot Rod from Burnout 2: Point of Impact. In real life the Tribal Special looks similar to a Ford Model A or B used in American Hot Rod culture. It also resembles an older Bugatti model.

Notes

  • In Burnout Paradise's Free February Update, the Carson Tribal Special's speed stat was lowered from 8 to 6 and it's boost stat was lowered from 10 to 9.
