[edit] Description
The Cavalry Bootlegger is a modified version of the Hunter Cavalry, available in Burnout Paradise as a Legendary Car (prices listed below), sporting a Mexican flag on the roof. If the player presses L3, the car's horn will sound, playing a bar from the song Dixie. This special version of the Cavalry itself has hidden headlamps instead of the four headlights in both sides, a brush guard mounted in its front bumper, and side windows replaced.
It is still an excellent beginning car for those who desire Stunt Run events, because with its greater boost and average speed, it can still do well performing Barrel Rolls and Flat Spins, much like its original version. Due to the original Cavalry models having reduced stats to be easier on new Burnout players, the Bootlegger is the fastest Cavalry in the game. Although the Bootlegger has the same strength as the original Cavalry, it has more of a chance of crashing, due to the faster speed and boost.
[edit] How to Unlock
The Bootlegger be included with four other vehicles in the Legendary Cars Pack for $7.99, €7.99, £6.29, and 600
or will be able to be purchased individually for $1.99, €1.99, £1.59, and 160
.
[edit] Resemblance
The Bootlegger resembles The General Lee, a 1969 model Dodge Charger from The Dukes of Hazzard TV Series, with the flag on it's roof and '01' numbers on it's side, although the flags on the front license plate and roof are Mexican flags instead of Confederate ones. Oddly, the default color of the car is white, as opposed to orange like the original car, but this can be changed like many cars in the game. Like the it's real world counterpart, the Bootlegger's doors are welded shut, so they do not come off in a crash.
The name Bootlegger is a reference to the real-life inspiration of The General Lee, which was inspired by Jerry Rushing, a Bootlegger from the mid 20th century. Ironically, his custom car, the Traveller, was inspired by General Robert E. Lee's favorite horse, and Robert would have the Dukes of Hazzard car named after him.
[edit] Notes
- When the Bootlegger crashes while the horn is playing, its horn will die out. If lucky, the player can get a "Driveaway" and the horn can continue to play by pressing the L3 button.
- On the top of the car is a Mexican Flag and the words "Chicanator" on either side. Chicanator was an avid poster of the original Criterion forums. The Mexican Flags can also be found on the numberplate with the words WANTED in front of them.
- Despite featuring its hidden headlights, it does not operate whenever nighttime occurs, making this vehicle not a good choice for night times, similar to Carson Annihilator variations.
- This vehicle can't be used in an Online Cops & Robbers game.
