The Krieger PCPD Special is the upgraded version of the Racing WTR and the final vehicle unlocked offline in Burnout Paradise. It gains one boost point to increase its maximum speed, but since it is the other police vehicle in Paradise City, it gains one strength. The added strength does little to help the once and still fragile PCPD Special survive crashes, but it also does not hinder the maneuverability. The only noticeable change is the increase in maximum speed to an already ridiculously fast car. Also worth noting is that it, along with the Hunter Citizen, has police working strobe lights. They have no effect on traffic, but they are still a fairly cool feature. The acronym PCPD stands for Paradise City Police Department.

[edit] Resemblance

The Racing WTR model matches the Logitech Racer from Burnout Revenge. Like the game's Racing WTR, the PCPD Special closely resembles the real-life 2007 Champ Car DP-01, which was produced by Elan Motorsports in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Although the game model also resembles a Formula 1 (F1) car, it has no natural induction airbox. Like other Champ Cars, the DP-01 used a turbocharged V8, and thus needed no airbox above the driver's head, simply a roll hoop for driver safety.

[edit] Notes

  • In Burnout Paradise's Free February Update, the Krieger PCPD Special's speed stat was lowered from 9 to 6.
  • The PCPD special, being the ultimate police pursuit vehicle currently in paradise city, features police scanner radio chatter which has references to areas of Paradise City. There is also a reference to a speeding vehicle terrorizing traffic on Big Surf Island (although it can be hard to understand what they are saying).
  • Even with working police sirens, traffic emits no response to drivable police vehicles.
  • On Most Burnout World Police vehicles like this one, the number 510 is seen on the car instead of the normal 731. 510 is police code for speeding or racing vehicles.
  • The PCPD Special is not unlocked when a player purchases the Cops and Robbers Pack. It is an original Paradise vehicle, and is unlocked by playing through Burnout Paradise's offline "career mode."
  • Each of the PCPD Special's Finishes has it's own handling traits. Finish 1 produces more oversteer, Finish 2 has direct steering with balanced handling and Finish 3 produces more understeer. When using the platinum finish, handling varies on what paint finish was used before it. If the PCPD special was driven in Finish 1 before choosing platinum, then the car will have oversteer, etc.
  • The handling of the PCPD Special does not change when the gold finish is used.
