Near Miss
From Burnopedia, the Burnout wiki
A Near Miss is a stunt performed by driving very near a civilian vehicle at high speed. In almost all Burnout games, a Near Miss also requires you to not actually come into contact with the vehicle, however this does not apply in Burnout Dominator. Near Misses can be performed on same-direction traffic, oncoming traffic, online players, and even parked cars, however it cannot be performed on AI Rivals.
In the early Burnout 1 and Burnout 2 titles, the player would have to get extremely close to traffic in order to be awarded a Near Miss, while in the later games the distance needed became more lenient. Near Misses can also be chained by performing two or more in quick succession.
In the Maniac and Near Miss Challenges of Burnout Dominator, and in Burnout 2, a ring tone sounded after a successful Near Miss. In aforementioned events in Dominator, Oncoming Near Misses earned more points than same-way ones. In the PSP version of Dominator, near misses also count when you slam a traffic on its side.
Also note that although Near Misses can be chained for more boost, they does not have much of an effect on the score of a Stunt Run in Burnout Paradise. In Paradise, an easy way to get as much near misses as you want is to find a stretch of parks cars along the road, drive by them, turn around quickly, and do it again. Examples of good places to do this would be Watt Street or the part of Harber Street between Fry Avenue and Root Avenue.
