Drive Throughs

From Burnopedia, the Burnout wiki

Map of all Drive Throughs in Paradise City.

Drive Throughs are buildings found throughout Paradise City that help the player in a variety of ways. Their buildings are all much smaller than the other inaccessible buildings of the city. They all have an area in front that has enough room for the player to drive through. Once the player passes through that area, a certain effect will be applied to the player's vehicle based on the type of drive through.

[edit] Gas Station

Gas stations are the most common of the drive throughs found in Paradise City. They refill the player's boost when they pass through it. They are very useful during Race events when the player needs to boost but are low or out of boost; they are also useful in Burning Route events when the player needs to cut a few seconds off the time but are in need of boost to do so. Otherwise, the Gas Stations can just be used in any other event or Freeburn Online to regain the much needed boost for whatever reason.

[edit] Auto Repair

Auto Repairs are the second-most common drive through found in Paradise City. Auto repairs are necessary to fix up one's car after it has been unlocked to apply custom paint jobs.  They are most useful during the heavy Marked Man and Road Rage events when the player's vehicle is at Critical Damage, but after one uses it (during events) it will become closed. It is important to note that passing through an Auto Repair in any other event actually hinders the player's performance.  For example, in Stunt Run events, the Auto Repair will end a stunt chain or a boost chain, and actually slow down the car, also making it bad for Races. In Freeburn there is no cost and it will not close; it simply restores the car's condition.

[edit] Paint Shop

Paint Shops are less common than Gas Stations or Auto Repairs in Paradise City. When the player drives through a Paint Shop, their car is given a new, random pearlescent paint job.  These drive throughs have no direct use during any event and are mainly intended for Freeburn when the player feels that his/her car needs a new paint job but doesn't want to return to the Junkyard.  Paint Shops only change the paint job of the car; they do not repair the car.

NOTE: Some vehicles' finishes, like the Carbon, Bikes, Sponsor, Police and other certain cars that do not have any custom paint in the Junkyard menu cannot have their paint jobs changed by driving through these Paint Shops. The player will have to return to a Junkyard to change their paint job finishes. The Carbon and Sponsor cars do not have any options at all, and some can only be changed once Gold Paint and Platinum Paint are unlocked by the player earning their Elite License and getting 100% game completion respectively.

[edit] Junkyard

There are only five Junkyards scattered around the Paradise City, one for each district. Junkyards allow the player to choose a different car.  Also, once they player has repaired an unocked car, they can apply a custom paint job there rather than having to drive repeatedly through a Paint Shop. Driving through a Junkyard in reverse or during an event does nothing; that is, the player will continue on without entering the Junkyard. The Free February Update added the ability to apply a filter to the vehicles in the junkyard, so players can find the vehicle they want more quickly.
