Wheelies are unique stunts that can be performed by Bikes in Burnout Paradise. While traveling slowly, simply pull the steering analog stick backwards to pop the front wheel of the bike off the ground. One must then maintain balance by keeping the stick held down and moving it left and right accordingly. The player must also cruise at a low speed because accelerating too much will cause the bike to pitch back forward.

When performing wheelies, a small box appears near the mini-map which tracks distance traveled. The farthest distance achieved by a player is saved in the Records page along with such stats as longest oncoming and highest stunt run. There are also achievements for wheelies of various distances. Longest wheelie distance is a stat which is tracked by Today's Best in multi-player.

[edit] Tips

  • Make sure that a controlled speed is kept at all times by letting off the accelerator slightly after a maintaining the wheelie for a period of time.
  • The game will never let you flip yourself over backwards, so do not be shy about pushing the stick back.
  • It is extremely difficult to turn while wheeling, so plan your route first. One of the most ideal places to perform a long wheelie is I-88.
  • It is easy to recover from a head or rear end collision, but it is nearly impossible to recover from a side-impact due to the effect on balance.
  • One of the best bikes to use for long wheelies is the Nakamura FV1100 because of its low top speed, and superb handling.

There are 4 cars in Paradise City that are capable of boost wheelies. These wheelies are short, uncontrollable, purely for show, and because they are cars, a travel distance counter does not pop up when the wheelie is performed.
